The tradition of Christmas tree
The history of holiday tree has its beginning in Germany. In the 16th century German Christians brought into their homes the decked trees. Somebody was made wooden pyramids and decorated them with candles and evergreens. Candles was hunged on a holiday tree by Martin Luther in the 16th century too. Only a few know that the most 19th century residents of America found Christmas trees as oddity. Some say that the Pennsylvania German settlements had Christmas trees even in 1747. But, as late as the 1840s Christmas trees were seen as pagan symbols and they were not accepted by the most of residents of America.

The word „carol” actually means dance or a song of joy and praise. In the past carols were songs of pagans those were sung during celebration of Winter Solstice when people danced around stone circles. Early Christians inspired pagan customs and gave songs for Christian. In 129 the song „Angel’s Hymn” was popular and played at a Christmas celebrations in Italy. Other Christmas song was created in 760 by Comas from Jerusalem. After that time many composers in Europe started writting Christmas songs. But majority of carols was sung in Latin and that’s why many people had lost interest singing carols.
